My first foray into Illustrator

Illustrator is a program that has eluded me for quite some time. I’ve seen people do some amazing artwork, but I never really delved into the program. Here is my first real foray into illustrator at the behest of my graphic design teacher. Enjoy.

"The Apocalyptic Nuicance" Album Cover

This is the cover for my band’s demo album titled “The Apocalyptic Nuicance (A Scientific Destabilization in Six Acts).” It’s the same road and mountains as the “Conscript” book cover, but the sky and subject matter is a bit different. I’ve had the idea rattling around in my head for a while. This is my answer to the question, “What would a scientific experiment gone wrong enough to bring about the apocalypse look like from the perspective of a person who was not at all involved?” It’s a long question with a short answer.

This photo is out of date since my band has added a member, but it’s still pretty cool. This was inspired by a scene from our comic book (excerpts from that comic will be posted here later) where our drummer uses a pair of drum sticks with the power to output huge amounts of controlled energy.

“Conscript” Book Cover

Here’s some cover art I created for a friend of mine who is writing a truly awesome sci-fi novel called “Conscript.” It’s a second attempt because the author was looking for something a little more “sinister” than my first attempt. I did, however, keep the original idea. Since the book is about a man who finds himself becoming less and less human, I wanted to make sure that theme was reflected in the artwork.

Hey, there! This is my new blog, “Reality is Overrated.” In general it is about the work and play of a man who has never been a fan of reality. That man is me. It’s also about my attempts to create alternate realities through multimedia (graphics, video, audio).
